Lorena Ermocida

Lorena is a gifted dancer and communicator. She is one of the few tango artists who had successfully combined the art of teaching and performing with great aplomb. Her sultry display of the sexiest tango walk is a stunning mastery of the dance brought about by years of solid experience.

Her finest performances are always punctuated by the classic Lorena-look, slim, sexy, and sophisticated outfits, which has made her become a fashion icon in the world of tango, embraced by both fellow artists and followers because of her impeccable style of dressing. She has also acted as adjudicator for the World Tango Championship in Buenos Aires, and now for the European Tango Championship in Torino, Italy, together with Fabián Peralta.

Lorena Ermocida graduated from the Academy of Classical and Contemporary Dance, and devoted herself to the study of the Argentine Tango with teachers like Gloria and Eduardo Arquimbau, Gustavo Naveira and Olga Besio, Mingo and Esther Pugliese, Antonio Todaro, among others. She has worked as a dancer and teacher in the Gallery of Tango Argentino, has participated in several documentaries and films like Evita. She has worked as a choreographer and dancer in various programmes, such as the Gotan project with Juan Carlos Copes; and Tango x 2 in 1995 and 1996. With her partner Osvaldo Zotto, she worked with the famous singer Julio Iglesias from 1999 to 2008 and has performed in festivals and major theaters around the world including the Metropolitan Opera House in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, Luna Park, Bs, l 'Opéra de Paris, among others. She has worked in Europe, the U.S., Canada and Switzerland and participated as guest of honor at the 2010 Festival of Florianópolis. Lorena won the Massine Positano Prize for her contributions to tango and has for several years participated as a judge at the World Tango Championships of Buenos Aires.
 

Lorena Ermocida started dancing Tango professionally in 1989 and has since traveled extensively in different parts of the world both as a teacher and performer with different companies among them Tango x 2.

She has also worked as an assistant of Carlos Copes, a living legend in the world of Tango, and in fact has worked with him again last year dancing for 6 months at Esquina Carlos Gardel. She was the main dancer of the show Tango Baile which toured Italy recently..

She also worked with the world famous singer Julio Iglesias, as a special artist in his concert tours around the globe.

She has also done a lot of documentaries and films about tango and very notable of which is the film EVITA and the Italian documentary EL TANGO A PASSO DI.

Lorena's skills were honed and polished by the great masters who gave her the finer points which has made her become the respected and consummate artist that she is today. Respectable names such as Gustavo Naveira and Olga Besio, Mingo and Esther Pugliese , Antonio Todaro , and Gloria y Eduardo Arquimbau are few of the teachers who have greatly influenced her craft.
